Description

The DM2 A4 torpedo is the successor of proven DM2 A3 torpedo being developed by STA ATLAS Elektronik. It will feature electrical propulsion system and a fiber optic cable for torpedo guidance. The DM2 A4 torpedo service life will be about 30 years. It will be easily upgradeable, cost-effective, and highly reliable while offering improved performance over DM2 A3 torpedoes, and advanced modular design. The DM2 A4 torpedo can accommodate and Underwater Unmanned Vehicle (UUV) removing the homing head, warhead, and 3 sub-batteries sections. The new torpedo has been ordered by the German Navy for their U212-class (U31) submarines and the Hellenic Navy is considering to purchase the DM2 A4 for their 3 U214-class submarines with UUVs integration anticipated.
