Description

The Il-96-400TZ is a tanker and transport aircraft designed by UAC to meet the requirements of the Russian Air Force for a flying aircraft with the capability to carry both cargo and passengers. Two prototypes were ordered through VASO in 2015 with the first one delivered in early 2017 and second expected in 2018. The airplanes will be able to refuel small and large aircraft. Fitted with the Zvezda UPAZ-1 refueling system also provided to the Il-78 tanker, the Il-96-400TZ will be able to carry 65 tons of fuel across a range of 3,500 kilometers. The Russian Air Force is expected to order up to 30 Il-96-400TZ multirole tanker and transport (MRTT) aircraft beyond 2020 after the airplane has passed the flying tests.
