Description

The Light Artillery Rocket-160 (LAR-160) is a 160mm artillery rocket system carrying unitary warhead or multiple cluster dual-purpose sub-munitions fitted with IMI's self-destruct fuze. The rocket disperses the sub-munitions over an area of up to 31,400 square meters on the battlefield. The LAR rocket family features stabilized fins and composite solid propellants. The MK II version ranges varies between 12 to 35 km. The Mk IV version has a maximum range of 45 kilometers. IMI provides the LAR-160 in Launch Pod Containers (LPCs) each containing 13 to 18 rockets. A LAR-equipped mobile platform carries one or two LPCs and utilizes tracked, wheeled or towed chassis. IMI designed the LAR rocket to provide ground forces with long-range fire support.
