Description
The 9M333 is an advanced surface-to-air missile (SAM) developed by the Kalashnikov Concern in support of the Strela-10M short range, ground-based, air defense system. The fire-and-forget missile has been designed to destroy low-altitude flying fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles. Its homing head provides a shear advantage over similar weapons with the seeker operating in three modes: photo-contrast, infrared and spectral interference ranges withstanding optical countermeasures. The 9M333 missile completed development tests in December 2020 and is expected to be deployed in early 2021.
