Description
The Typhoon-PVO is a variant of the Typhoon-VDV tactical vehicle equipped with a roof-mounted remotely controlled turret housing a 12.7mm heavy machine gun. The Typhoon-PVO is intended to provide short-range air defense against unmanned air vehicles, cruise missiles, standoff weapons and rotary-wing aircraft. The tactical vehicle also features a hatch on the roof allowing troops firing of MAN-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) missiles such as the Igla-S. The Typhoon-PVO entered service within the Russian Armed Forces between late 2020 and early 2021.
