Description

The Boeing AH-6 is a light attack and reconnaissance helicopter designed to meet the requirements of military customers while maintaining flexibility for future growth. With 2,000-lb payload, this rotorcraft platform can be equipped with Hellfire missiles, the M260 seven-shot rocket pod, a machine gun and a mini-gun integrated with a sensor system. An Electro-Optical/Infrared forward-looking sight system is provided as standard equipment. A communications package allows the AH-6 to connect to other aircraft and to ground stations. The AH-6 is based on the MD-500 platform which was already used by special operations forces. Boeing will produce the new rotorcraft at its Rotorcraft Systems facility in Mesa, Arizona. Boeing announced the new AH-6 program at AUSA exhibition 6-8 October 2008.
