TATRAPAN

The TATRAPAN is a 6x6 all-terrain, light armored tactical vehicle built by VYVOJ Martin on the military version of the TATRA T 815 truck chassis modified to provide protection against mine explosions. The vehicle's armored cab accommodating the driver and commander provides ballistic protection against 7.62mm armor piercing ammunition and artillery shells. The vehicle's body is an autonomous unit and can be modified for several applications such as troops transport, ambulance, command and control (C2) station, air defense vehicle etc. Deliveries of this armored vehicle to the Slovak Armed Forces started in 2006 and have been deployed in support of United Nations (UN) and NATO peacekeeping missions. The TATRAPAN two-seat armored cabin is equipped with a roof hatch and an optional rotating turret for a 7.62mm machine gun that can be operated under armor protection. It is equipped with state-of-the-art day and night observant devices, communication systems, heating and an air filter ventilation system. The cabin has a hydraulic lifting system with a mechanical lock. The vehicle's body can be replaced in less than 60 minutes. The vehicle features a central tyre inflation system (CTIS) as standard equipment. Overall, the TATRAPAN is suitable for operations in extreme weather conditions with temperatures up to 55-Celsius. So far, the TATRAPAN 6x6 is available in the following versions: T1 and Z1 personnel carrier; ZASA is a version customized for the West Sahara theater under UN mandate; VESPRA, VESPRA-M, VP and VPG are mobile command posts; DELSYS is an artillery command post; PVO, PVO-M and ASTRA PVO are mobile air defense command posts; AMB is an ambulance; and MOD features upgraded motor and transmission. In 2008 the TATRAPAN (VSRV-2) received more upgrades: hydraulically operated large rear doors and ABS breaking system; electric motor for air-conditioner drive from electrical distribution network; hermetically closed doors on the driver's cabin with new air filtration and ventilation equipment; and innovation of rear lights, a dashboard and commander's panel.
