Description

The L-IESA NR-IFF (L-Band Intelligent Electronic Scanning Array Non-Rotating IFF) is a secondary surveillance radar operating as a Mode-S interrogator. It utilizes a circular active electronically scanned array antenna, eliminating the need for mechanical rotation. This L-band phased array antenna, with a diameter of less than 3.5 meters, also incorporates elevation angle sweeping, enabling electronic compensation for factors like ship heeling and suppression of multipath returns. The system has a peak power output of 1.6 to 2.4 kW, an instrumented range exceeding 200 nautical miles (370 km), a beamwidth of 6° to 8°, and a mean time between critical failures (MTBCF) greater than 4,500 hours.
