Description

The United States Air Force (USAF) Counter-Electronics High-Power Advanced Microwave Project (CHAMP) is a cruise missile delivering a microwave pulse instead of a hard kill warhead. This new weapon is a derivate of the proven Joint Ait-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range (JASSM-ER) and it was unveiled in 2015. The CHAMP is equipped with an electromagnetic gun that fires microwave projectiles which disable all electric equipment. The new weapon is intended to take out command, control, communication and computing (C4) as well as surveillance and intelligence capacities without physical damage. As of April 2024, the missile seems to be operational and deployed in secrecy.
