Description
The KT-1/SC-19 is a Chinese ground-based anti-satellite missile derived from the DF-21 medium-range ballistic missile. The SC-19 missile is reported to have shoot down a Chinese polar orbit weather satellite (FY-1C Fengyun) at 865 kilometers at altitude with the kinetic kill vehicle traveling at 8 kilometers per second on January 12, 2007. The shoot down was an early test of the SC-19 missile system and the kill vehicle destroyed the weather satellite with a direct hit.
