Description
The Italian Coast Guard UAM is a multi-role offshore unit designed and built by Fincantieri and Cantiere Navale Vittoria as follow-on for the patrol vessels delivered to the Italian Coast Guard in 2013 and 2014. Italy ordered one vessel worth 80 million Euro on November 15, 2021. The program has options for another two vessels. The UAM will be able to perform a variety of tasks ranging from sea rescue to maritime safety, from marine conservation to fish resources protection, as well as civil protection. The 85-meter vessel will be able to operate for 20 days at a range of more than 4,800 nautical miles (8,000+ kilometers) powered by an azimuth type electric propulsion system (two azipods).
