Description
The Project 22351 represents a minor modification to the Project 22350 class frigate featuring 24 (8x3) vertical launching systems instead of 16 (8x2) in the parent project for the Kalibr missile system. These missile systems have been designed to engage land targets from a distance of 2,000+ kilometers and targets at sea both surfaced or submerged from ranges of 300+ kilometers. At least two frigates of this new type being built by Severnaya Verf will join the Russian Navy in 2024 and 2025. A second batch of at least 5 more frigates was ordered in 2022-2023.
