Description
The ChangZheng 8, CZ-8 or Long March 8, is a medium-lift space launch rocket being developed by China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) on the basis of the CZ-3A and CZ-7 space rockets core. The CZ-8 will be provided with two solid propellant boosters with the aim to place a 4.5 metric tons payload into sun synchronous orbit or a 2.5-ton payload into geosynchronous transfer orbit. The first launch of a CZ-8 rocket was planned by the end of 2018 or early 2019 but finally executed on December 22, 2020. The existence of the new Long March rocket was revealed in February 2017.
