Description

The Hussar is a tactical ultra-lightweight missile being developed by Diehl Defence and Safran Group for use by both tactical fighter aircraft and unmanned aircraft systems. The Hussar tactical air-to-ground weapon has been designed to engage time critical stationary and moving targets utilizing a scalable effects warhead while minimizing collateral damage. The Hussar will use a variety of seekers including a semi-active laser seeker for precise target engagement. A new smart multi-launcher with a capacity for up to eight missiles will be available for the new weapon system. The Hussar weapon system was launched in June 2019 and is expected to achieve initial operational capability in the late 2020s or early 2030s.
