Description

The Motiv-3M is an anti-tank sub-munition developed by NPO Bazalt design bureau to destroy armored vehicles after being released by Smerch/Tornado-S artillery rockets or gliding bombs. The Motiv-3M is fitted with an infrared sensor to engage both stationary and moving targets while descending using a parachute at a speed roughly of 17 meters per second. After lock-on the target, it detonates at an altitude of 150 meters delivering a powerful explosive formed penetrator (EFP) capable of piercing 70-110mm of reinforced armor. It was first used in Ukraine in November 2023. The Motiv-3M sub-munition has been provided to the Drel aerial stealth bomb.
