The Murmansk-BN is a long-range communications jamming system specially designed to take out NATO and United States (US) high frequency military satellite communications. The Murmansk-BN electronic warfare (EW) system is being developed by KRET and has a maximum coverage of 3,000 kilometers (5,000 km or 8,000 km from other sources). This system was developed as part of a Russian strategic electronic warfare system and operates as a network centric capability. The primary target of the Murmansk-BN is the West's High Frequency Global Communications System (HFGCS). It was unveiled in November 2016 as the system prototype was achieving some test successes. --- COGINT Report Data (7 June 2023, UNCLASSIFIED) --- Bandwidth/Frequencies: Jamming frequency: 3-30 MHz Range: 5,000–8,000 km Additional Information: • Complex is fully mobile and has groups of up to four extendable antenna masts – two on a dedicated KamAZ or Ural truck, which tows another antenna on a trailer • Full complex has four antenna groups for 16 antennas in total; masts extend to 32 meters in height • Support vehicles include a KamAZ 6350 command vehicle, a heavy cargo truck that was developed in 1987 and was adopted by the Russian army in 2002, and a KamAZ 6350 generator vehicle per four antenna group • The layout of the KamAZ 6350 is conventional with a crew cab at the front and a cargo area at the rear, a weight of 11,400 kg and a payload capacity of 10,000 kg Performance Specifications: • Jamming frequency [MHz]: 3–30 • Area of jamming [km2]: 640,000 • Jamming range [km]: 5,000–8,000 • Deployment time [hours]: 72 • Truck vehicles: KamAZ 53501 and KamAZ 6350
