Description

The MAN HX2 Extreme Mobility Truck System is a new military transport vehicle offering effective protection against Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attacks thanks to a newly designed driver's protected cab and a hard-kill protection system. Both the armored cab and Active Defence System (ADS) protection system are supplied by Rheinmetall. The high mobility 6x6 HX2 is an advanced version of the proven MAN HX all-terrain truck system. The HX2 6x6 is powered by a 440-hp MAN diesel engine. To achieve the required level of performance, MAN designed a new front axle to withstand up to 11-ton loads. The Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) HX2 truck system was unveiled at the Eurosatory 2012 exhibition in Paris, France. The HX2 integrated ADS sensor system detects incoming projectiles such as shaped charge warheads. In a matter of microseconds, the system activates a protective sector and neutralizes the incoming object by means of directed energy immediately before it reaches its target. Because it operates in a downward direction, ADS is the only high-performance close-quarters protection system that minimizes collateral damage in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
