Description

The Zolfaqar is a fast attack missile boat procured by Iran under its weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. This boat is intended to perform surveillance missions and perform quick attacks on hostile ships. The Zolfaqar-class missile boat is outfitted with rocket launchers and machine guns. According to the Iranian Ministry of Defense the construction of the Zolfaqar class boats started in August 2010 and they would be deployed along Iran's coastline and on the Strait of Hormuz shipping route.
