Description

The BMC 350-16 Z is a high mobility, all wheel drive 4x4 (or 4x2) mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle featuring mine and ballistic protection. It has been designed to carry up to ten fully equipped troops in addition to the three-man crew (driver, commander and guard). Powered by a Cummins ISLe+ 350 Euro III water cooled turbo diesel engine developing 257 kW can achieve a top speed in excess of 100 kph. The BMC 350-16 Z is equipped with a roof hatch to use an optional machine gun mounting. It has been dubbed Kirpi or Hedgehog by the Turkish Armed Forces. On December 18, 2008, the Turkish Ministry of Defense take the decision to procure 2,000 tactical wheeled vehicles and mine resistant armored vehicles. On April 22, 2009, the Turkish Armed Forces and BMC signed the contract for the delivery of 2,000 BMC 185-09 B, BMC 235-16 P and BMC 380-26 P tactical vehicles. Other armored vehicles to be delivered under this contract could be the BMC 250-10 Z multi-purpose armored vehicle and BMC 350-16 Z mine resistant armored vehicle.
