Description
The Blagovest is a new communications satellite constellation developed to provide worldwide coverage while meeting the requirements of the Russian Armed Forces. The Blagovest geostationary satellites are equipped with Ka- and Q-band transponders to support high-speed internet, telephony and other broadcast services. The first satellite was put into orbit in 2017 and the fourth and last one is expected to lift-off onboard a Proton-M rocket from Baikonour in April 2019. These satellites are expected to operate roughly 15 years.
