Description

The Lockheed Martin Miniature Hit-To-Kill (MHTK) is a small and compact surface-to-air missile intended to counter incoming rockets, artillery, and mortar (RAM) threats as well as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The low cost MHTK has been designed to be released as barrage of munitions in quick succession creating a shield protecting personnel and equipment. It relies on kinetic energy rather than an active warhead to take out the targets. A single launcher can contain 36 miniaturized missiles and two launchers can fit into a flatbed truck. The missile was developed following US Army requirements but failed to gain procurement orders paving the way for Lockheed Martin to sell this weapon to international customers specially those located in the Middle East.
