The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Kasturi-class of light frigates/corvettes has been designed to perform anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW). Their sensor package includes DA-08 air search radar and DSQS-21C hull mounted sonar. The weapon system comprises four MM38 Exocet anti-ship missiles, one 100mm dual-purpose gun, one 57mm dual-purpose gun, two twin-barrel 30mm anti-aircraft guns, and two triple 12.75-in torpedo tubes. The aft flight deck allows operation of a single helicopter. The propulsion system is based on four diesel engines and two shafts developing 21,000-shp and a top speed of 28 knots. The RMN commissioned two ships in 1984 which were built in Germany.
