The Yak-130M is a derivative of the Yak-130 trainer with expanded combat capabilities requested by export operators of the Yak-130 aircraft. The new aircraft features air-to-air and air-to-surface combat capabilities including drone hunting missions. Yakovlev unveiled the Yak-130 light combat aircraft in August 2024 during Army Exhibition in Russia. The new aircraft is intended for the export market with the Russian Aerospace Forces expected to upgrade 60 existing Yak-130 to the Yak-130M standard. Yakovlev started assembling three Yak-130M prototypes in February 2025. The new aircraft is expected to receive the BRLS-130R AESA radar, R-77-1 air-to-air missiles with a maximum range of 100 kilometers, Kh-39M and Kh-38MA tactical air-to-ground missiles as well as S-8L laser-guided 80mm rockets. The aircraft may be powered by two SM-100 turbofan engines.
