F370
F370

The F370-class frigates have been designed to meet the requirements for an expeditionary multi-purpose ship capable of performing anti-ship (ASuW) and anti-submarine (ASW) warfare missions with point air defense capabilities. Reduced radar cross section, infrared, acoustic, and magnetic emissions will be requested to fulfill the highly survivable stealth concept. The Royal Danish Navy plans to procure three F370-class frigates with the lead ship, Iver Huitfeldt, achieving initial operational capability in 2012. The F370 frigate will feature a modular design architecture, a 127mm MK45 Mod 4 naval gun, a flight deck for and a single EH101 Merlin helicopter. ESSMs as well as MK 56 launching systems will be provided to these ships. No further information has been released yet about this project. In November 2004, the Royal Danish Navy selected 35mm Millennium cannon to provide close-in air defense capability. One guns controlled by CEROS fire control system will be installed on each F370-class frigate one aft on the helicopter hangar roof. A 76mm naval gun system has been installed at the bow to defend the frontal section from air strikes.
