Description
The Offshore Patrol Vessel 900 (OPV900) is a 66-meter long patrol craft capable of speeds of 20 knots intended to conduct surveillance missions in support of maritime border security. The Damen shipyards and Romania with Schengen funding signed a contract for an OPV900, also called OPV6610, for the Romanian Border Police on January 12, 2009. The MAI 1105 Stefan cel Mare was handed over to Romania at her homeport of Constanta on September 22, 2010. The patrol boat will be the largest and most sophisticated vessel in the Romanian fleet and will patrol the border from Constanta.
