The GAZ-2330 Tiger is a 4x4 multipurpose, all-terrain vehicle designed for optimal performance in environments such as Urals, Siberia, Far East and desert conditions. The Tiger is capable of operating at ambient temperatures ranging from -14 Celsius to +50 Celsius. Moreover, the vehicle has demonstrated the ability to overcoming the most difficult sand dunes at approach and departure angles of 52-degree and moving across water obstacles of up to 1.2 meters deep. The GAZ-2330 Tiger is being marketed for police and military customers within the Russian Federation with the Ministries of Defense and Interior being their primary users. China is one of the first export customers with a batch of 100 special police cars SPM-2E Tiger delivered in 2008. Countries in the Middle East and Brazil have expressed interest in purchasing the Tiger for police and military applications. The vehicle compartment provides the a medium-car comfort with a seating capacity of up to 10. It is powered by a Cummins B205 20 diesel engine developing 205-hp of power as standard equipment. In December 2009, the Military Industrial Company (MIC) introduced a new version powered by a 420-hp diesel engine. GAZ Group developed five versions based on the Tiger chassis until the MIC took over the program: 4-seat version with a double-row cab and cargo platform with canopy or hard top; single-volume body version with a seating capacity of up to 10; 2-seat version with a single-row cab and cargo platform; armored body version with a seating capacity of up to 10; and chassis with 2-seat cab version. The versions developed under the management of the MIC are: GAZ-233001 unarmored variant with a maximum unrefueled range of 90 kilometers and intended as a luxury SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) for the civilian market, it was launched in October 2009; GAZ-233011; GAZ-233034 SPM-1 Tiger multipurpose vehicle; GAZ-233036 SPM-2 Tiger or Tiger MTA-2 is an multipurpose armored police vehicle used primarily for law enforcement; the SPM-2E Tiger police car features onboard information management system and was introduced at the Eurosatory 2008 exhibition; and command-staff vehicle P-145BMA for the security forces. The SPM designation stands for Special Police Machine/Car. The SPM-2 Tiger offers a ballistic protection equivalent to NATO STANAG 4569 level 2.
