AMVXP
The 30-ton class AMVXP is the latest evolution of the AMV 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle featuring Extra Payload, Extra Performance and Extra Protection referring to the XP abbreviation. The upgraded vehicle with an spacious interior and high payload carrying capability provide a platform for future customer variants, allowing the simultaneous integration of weapon systems, protection and crew equipment. The AMVXP was launched in the autumn 2013 and started a testing program that lasted until mid-2014. The vehicle is powered by a 450 kW engine together with an unforeseen Integrated Terrain Control System (ITCS). Its electrical power generation is measured to match the increasing power needs of future soldier and C4I systems. Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) together with the vehicle’s digital backbone ensures the best possible platform for the 21st century soldiers to meet their objectives in every operational theatre in the future. As of late 2017 Slovakia plans to procure up to 81 AMVXP in the 2018-2024 timeframe. Slovakia confirmed the selection of the AMVXP 8x8 vehicle under the BOV 8x8 program in March 2022. On August 30, 2022, Slovakia and Finland signed the final agreement for 76 vehicles in three variants. In December 2022, Japan selected the AMVXP 8x8 as its new Wheeled Armored Personel Carrier (WAPC).
