Description

The Anka is an advanced Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries. Its primary goal is to perform intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions day/night and in all weather conditions. The aircraft features automatic take-off and landing characteristics, heavy fuel engine, ice protection system, dual data-link with a maximum range of 250 kilometers and satellite communications. It can be equipped with both electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payloads. The Anka UAV is operated from an advanced ground control station. The Anka-S variant can be armed with MAM-C and MAM-L rockets. The Turkish Air Force fielded the Anka airborne system in the late 2010s and was deployed in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the late 2020.
