Project 22350M
The Project 22350M is a follow-on class destroyer with improved performance including a stealthier ship design and increased firepower. The new ship may feature increased displacement (8,000 or 7,000 tons) and mission endurance to support operations overseas in support of Lider-class destroyers. The propulsion system will comprise two M70FRU gas turbines developing 8 MW each and two M90FR gas turbines developing 20MW each. The weapon system will include the Poliment-Redut air defense system with 96 missile cells and 48 cells for Onyx, Kalibr and/or Zircon missiles. Besides, the Project 22350M destroyer will carry two Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) helicopters such as the Ka-65 Lamprey and two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The lead ship of the improved Project 22350 is expected to be commissioned by the Russian Navy by 2026-2029. The Russian Navy plans call for the procurement of 15-20 destroyers beyond 2030. The contract for the first Project 22350M destroyer was signed in February 2021 with the lead ship to be launched in 2025 and delivered to the Russian Navy in 2027.
