Description
The DF-5C, CSS-4C East Wing Western designation, is a three-stage, liquid fuel, silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by China. The DF-5C variant was first test fired in January 2017 carrying 10 nuclear warheads. The primary targets for the DF-5C ICBM are locations in the Continental United States (CONUS) territory. It is expected that China will upgrade and produce new DF-5C missiles beginning in 2025 as an extreme measure to counter the United States missile defenses.
