Description

The Talon is a low-cost 70mm semi-active laser guided rocket (LGR) developed by the Raytheon and Emirates Advanced Investments (EAI). It consists of a semi-active laser (SAL) seeker guidance and control kit installed on the front of an unguided 70mm rocket. The resulting guided weapon can be released from both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft against armored targets. The Talon guided rocket has been selected by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Land Forces to equip its AH-64D Longbow Apache attack helicopters beginning in 2010. Production is expected to be carried out in both the United States of America and UAE.
