Description
The Type 096 is the successor to the Type 094 SSBN and represents the next generation ballistic submarine to be commissioned by the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in the late 2020s. It is expected to carry 12-to-16 JL-3 ballistic missiles or a more advanced missile system. The lead ship was already under construction at the end of 2023.
