Description

The Thales BOR-A 550 is an I-band ground and coastal surveillance radar designed for military, border security, and general security applications. It provides day and night, all-weather detection, location, automatic classification, and tracking of moving targets across ground, sea, and lower-level airspace. With an instrumented range of 40 or 80 km and a range resolution of 40 m, it demonstrates proven long-range performance against small and slow targets such as individuals or rubber boats. Key features include track-while-scan, an optional integrated positioning and northing unit, and a comprehensive electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) suite with frequency agility across a bandwidth of 200 or 800 MHz. The system, which has a mean time between critical failures (MTBCF) of 2,000 hours, is suitable for networked operations within command, control, communications, and intelligence (C4I) systems and is currently in service in Germany and with various forces globally.
