Description

The SPYDER-MR is a medium range air defense system intended to destroy a wide array of targets such as ground attack aircraft, cruise missiles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs) and standoff weapons. The system features all-weather, network-centric, fully interoperable with other air defense systems, self-propelled, multi-launch, and quick-reaction capabilities. The Vertical launch SPYDER-MR enables 360 degree missile launching, within 2 seconds after a target has been declared hostile. It can engage an airborne threat at a maximum range of 35 kilometers and flying at an altitude of 16,000 meters. The key components of SPYDER-MR are the radar sensor unit, command and control unit, and missile firing unit. Each system is integrated on a 6x6 high mobility truck system. The SPYDER-MR air defense system incorporates Rafael's latest versions of the Derby medium-range and Phyton 5 short-range missiles both equipped with a booster to increase their maximum range. The missile firing unit is equipped with 4x2 canisters which can be filled with either Derby with booster and/or Python 5 with booster missiles.
