Description

The XM250 American 6.8mm Light Machine Gun is the U.S. military designation for the SIG LMG 6.8, a 6.8×51mm (.277 in), gas-operated, belt-fed, light machine gun designed by SIG Sauer for the U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon Program in 2022 to replace the M249 light machine gun. The XM250 light machine gun features a free-floating reinforced M-LOK handguard for direct accessory attachment onto the "negative space" (hollow slot) mounting points.

Fire Control The XM250 will be equipped with the XM157 Next Generation Fire Control System. The fire control allows for computer-aided ballistics, matching the round and weapon with the optic for better accuracy. The shooter can aim at the target, push a button on the weapon or optic and it will automatically adjust for distance and bullet drop, allowing the user to adjust fire rapidly. The fire control has preprogrammed ballistics information and can be fit to nearly any small arms weapon system in the Army’s inventory.
Note The barrel on the XM250 light machine gun is not considered to be a quick-change barrel and the stock is collapsible but non-folding.
