Description

The David's Sling, also known as Magic Wand, is a missile defense system produced and developed by Rafael and Raytheon to counter medium and long range rockets, short range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. In October 2008 this innovate air defense system was still in the testing phase of development. The first test firing of David's Sling was carried out on November 25, 2012. The system was expected to go operational in 2016 but finally was cleared for operational use in early April 2017. The David's Sling system along with the Iron Dome have been selected by the Israeli Defense Ministry as the best double-tiered solutions for critical air defense missions. Both systems offer the most comprehensive defense solution against a wide range of threats in a relatively short development cycle and at low cost.
