H-6K
H-6K
The H-6K is an outstanding upgraded version incorporating composite materials and state-of-the-art avionics which first flew in 2007 and entered service in 2013, some claim earlier in 2009. The H-6K bomber is powered by two Russian-made D-30KP turbofan engines and features longer range compared with previous H-6 aircraft. Besides, the K model features a full glass cockpit, a more powerful radar, larger air intakes, extra fuel capacity and six underwing pylons. The newest Chinese bombers are being equipped with CJ-10 nuclear-capable cruise missiles, YJ-100 long-range subsonic anti-ship missiles and YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missiles. The H-6K is deemed by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) as a truly strategic bomber comparable to those operated by the United States and Russia.
