The Ka-29 assault/transport aircraft derived from Soviet Ka-27 ship-borne helicopter and intended for assault missions operating from aircraft carriers carriers and amphibious landing ships. Moreover, it can take-off and land from unpaved ways, land airfields in addition to ship's flight deck. The Ka-29 is a combat, assault and transport variant of Ka-27 introducing some aircraft fuselage modifications and cabin room for up to 16 fully equipped marines. Optionally, it can be equipped with air-to-surface, anti-tank missiles such as the 9M114/AT-6, a four-barrel 7.62mm machine gun, a 30mm cannon, unguided rocket launchers and other weaponry in its Ka-29TB attack variant. The Ka-29 entered service with the Soviet Navy in 1985. It is no longer in production and may be replaced by the Ka-29M or a new platform such as the Ka-60 helicopter.
