Description

The Rheinmetall Skynex represents a new concept of fully networked, next-generation ground-based air defense system. The weapon system uses a 35mm cannon firing Ahead ammunition to engage a wide range of targets at very short ranges such as unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. The Skynex future air defense was unveiled by Rheinmetall at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris June 2016. The first order for the Skynex weapon system was logged in December 2022 by an undisclosed customer ordering two systems worth 182 million Euro to be delivered in 2024. Each Skynex air defense system consits of a control station, a X-TARD3D radar and four Revolver Gun Mk3 (Millennium) cannons.
