LORA

The LORA is a tactical ballistic missile developed by IAI to meet the requirements of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD) for a long-range artillery weapon system. The tactical ballistic missile can be launched from both ground- and sea-based platforms against infrastructures, bunkers or buried fortifications deep inside enemy territory. With a Circular Error Probable (CEP) below 10 meters, the LORA can hit targets at ranges between 30 to 280 kilometers in less than 10 minutes following a shaped trajectory. Its guidance system is based on both the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Inertial Navigation System (INS). LORA can be equipped with either a 440 kg general purpose high-explosive warhead or a 600 kg penetrator in order to hit hardened targets. These missiles are provided inside canisters which also serve as launch ramps. A LORA-equipped unit can be ready for a missile launch within minutes after arriving to a given unprepared position. Once set up, a tactical ballistic missile can be fired in less than 10 seconds. The LORA weapon system has a shelf life of seven years without maintenance stored in its sealed canister.
