Description

The Panter is a 155mm 52-caliber towed howitzer developed by MKEK in the 1990s for the Turkish Army artillery units. The Panter has a maximum range of 40 kilometers firing rocket-assisted projectiles (RAP) or 30 kilometers with conventional munition. The maximum rate of fire is six rounds per minute with a sustained rate of fire of three rounds per minute. The Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) allows the six-wheel Panter to travel at 20 kilometers per hour on road. The Turkish Army deployed the Panter towed howitzers beginning in 2002. The Pakistani Army took delivery of 72 Panter towed howitzers between 2007 and 2009.
