Description

The US Army Mid-Range Capability (MRC) Typhon, also known as Typhon Weapon System, is a new ground-based missile system intended to engage ground threats at distances of several thousand kilometers. The MRC leverages the Mk 41 missile launcher and the AEGIS weapon system from the US Navy surface fleet. The new ground-based missile system might be able to launch both SM-6 GLCM and Tomahawk Block V cruise missiles. The MRC Typhon initial capability was delivered to the US Army in December 2022 and is expected to get fully operational by 2025 or later with a very limited operational capability in 2023.
