The BAZ6909 is a high mobility 8x8 wheeled military truck system intended to deploy Iskander class tactical ballistic missiles acting as Transporter, Erector and Launcher (TEL) vehicle. Loaded with two Iskander missiles and a crew of three-man, the BAZ6909 weighs 40 tons and is capable of a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour on road. Within the Iskander missile system the BAZ6909 heavy truck is supported by a command and staff vehicle, life support vehicle, mobile data processing center and maintenance vehicle mounted on 6x6 trucks. The Iskander system also comprises another BAZ6909 8x8 truck playing the role of Transporter Loader Vehicle (TLV) reloading the TEL vehicle after its two missiles have been launched. The BAZ6909 8x8 truck system entered service with the Russian Army in the late 1990s and has been exported to several countries. The BAZ6909 can fire its first Iskander missile within 4 to 16 minutes after receiving the command and the second in less than a minute after the first launch.
