The Tatra Phoenix, also known as T 158-8, is a new family of military trucks designed to serve as cargo/troop carrier in the defense and military segment carrying out logistics missions. The new vehicle family is based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies. The Tatra Phoenix product range are well suited for off-road environment with outstanding reliability and efficiency under rough terrain but without risk of enemy fire and mine systems and in non-contaminated areas. The Tatra Phoenix 6x6 truck utilizes the same suspension system of the T 815-7 vehicle family. It features central load-bearing tube and pneumatic suspension on all axles as standard configuration. The chassis can load various superstructures with the designation T 158-8P5R33.391 6x6.2. It is powered by a six-cylinder liquid-cooled PACCAR MX engine developing 300 KW conforming to the Euro V (or Euro III) emissions specification. Optionally, the truck can be powered by a 340 KW engine. The Tatra Phoenix was unveiled at the IDEB 2012 exhibition in Bratislava.
