Description

The AN/SPS-46 is an X-band naval radar system manufactured by Lavoie Laboratories, designed for surface search and navigation on watercraft. Operating within a frequency range of 9,345 to 9,405 MHz, it utilizes a keyed power oscillator transmitter with a peak power of 7 kW. Its 48.5-inch (1.23 m) cut paraboloidal reflector, fed by a waveguide horn, produces a 2.2-degree fan beam with 15 degrees of vertical coverage, rotating at 18 rpm. The radar offers pulse repetition frequencies of 1,500 Hz or 750 Hz, pulsewidths of 0.2 µs or 0.4 µs, and an instrumented range of 33 miles (51 km).
