Description
The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) KJ-3000 is an advanced early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft developed based on the Y-20 four-engine military transport aircraft. The new airborne platform may be fitted with more than one radar system and both its detection and tracking capabilities will surpass the AEW&C aircraft of previous generations. The KJ-3000 performed its first flight on December 27, 2024. The new aircraft is expected to join the PLAAF by 2030 and will operate in challenging environments with fifth and sixth generation combat aircraft.
