Description

The Greek Navy Jason class of medium landing ships have been designed to deliver 300 fully equipped marines onto enemy shores. This 4,400-ton class ship propulsion system features two diesel engines developing 10,600-bhp and a top speed of 17 knots. An aft flight deck allows operation of a single helicopter. The weapon system includes one OTO 76mm dual purpose gun, two 40mm anti-aircraft guns and two dual 20mm guns. The Greek Navy commissioned five crafts in the 1990s as replacement for aging ex-US Navy LST ships.
