Description
The MBDA SmartGlider is a family of standoff, guided weapon system intended to fill the gap between guided bombs and cruise missiles. The weapon system has been designed to confront anti-access threats allowing fast speed aircraft to engage targets from safe ranges. The SmartGlider family feature folded wings and a maximum range of 100 kilometers with the capability to hit moving and stationary targets. Besides, the weapon system can engage targets protected by short and medium range air defense systems. MBDA expects the new weapon system to become operational before 2025.
