Description

The VAMTAC (Vehiculo de Alta Movilidad Tactica Espanol/Vehicle of Spanish Tactical High Mobility) is a 4x4 light armored vehicle very similar to Humvee. It was developed for the Spanish Army to serve as reconnaissance, command and control, fire support or tactical transport vehicle. It is powered by a diesel engine. VAMTAC can be equipped with machine guns, grenade launchers or missile systems. The VERT is a further version ordered by the Spanish Army intended for reconnaissance missions. It is based upon the VAMTAC ST5 armored vehicle and is fitted with an observation mast and a remote weapon station. The Spanish Army will take delivery of the first of six systems in December 2017. The VERT is produced in partnership between Urovesa and Navantia.
