Description

The Multi-Azimuth Defense Fast Intercept Round Engagement System (MAD-FIRES) is a new missile system intended to provide a robust and affordable self-defense capability that defeats multiple waves of anti-ship missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as other threats. The US Navy MAD-FIRES program is being carried out by Raytheon and is expected to achieve operational capability in the mid 2020s complementing or replacing the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) system. The first test of the MAD-FIRES rocket motor was announced in May 2019.
